Sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) and Trimethoprim (TMP) work synergistically as a combined antibiotic by blocking two consecutive steps in bacterial folate synthesis:

• Sulfamethoxazole inhibits dihydropteroate synthase, preventing folic acid formation.

• Trimethoprim inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, blocking folate utilization.
  This dual action provides bactericidal effects against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

• Acute bronchitis exacerbations

• Traveler's diarrhea

• MRSA skin infections

• Standard Adult Dose (UTI/Bronchitis):

  • 1 tablet (400mg SMZ/80mg TMP) every 12 hours for 5-14 days.

• Pediatric Dose:

  • Based on weight (6-12 mg TMP/kg/day) - use pediatric suspension if available.

Note: Take with a full glass of water; avoid sunlight (photosensitivity risk).

• Store below 30°C in original packaging.

• Protect from moisture and light.
